brenda smith is a female bodybuilder.she is originally from Louisiana and move out to California to follow the dream.
to live her life as a female bodybuilder.now she had been lifting weights since the early age of 16 and in fact was around the time woman’s bodybuilding was just in its infancy, when she saw her first show on TV she said that’s gonna be her.
so even though she was fairly competent at gymnastics and competing in that she found that when her coach had forced them girls onto the nautilus machines.which she quickly grew tired of, she had found her place in the universe.the gym, which is still at times the only place that feels like home to her.
Since there was a lack of opportunity in the deep south for her to compete in bodybuilding in those days.
she decided to powerlift. she had the opportunity to meet and work with many of the greats in the sport, John Inzer, Steve Miller, Fred Hatfield to name a few. When she saw Bev Francis.her life for sure was forever changed.
that is still the look of appeal to her. heavily muscled. which she know goes in and out of style but it’s a constant for her.
she have lifted in countless powerlifting and bench press events through out the years and in fact will go back to her roots when she make the choice to leave bodybuilding. she have just been blessed in finding the right folks to help her in any circumstance of sport she have been in.
she entered her first bodybuilding show post pregnancy 12 weeks..totally clueless but none the less on stage. she took second.
she dieted from 112 to 83 lbs.she did quite the gymnastics performance which at that time women’s bodybuilding was as confusing as it is now.
so she just did her thing. she stayed competing for several more years this was 1985, she competed until she felt like she needed a change, and at that point took up kickboxing that lead to boxing, and she still work mitts with a trainer, Phil Garcia at Golds, her first trainer in fighting was Richard Fatheree who she will always love and respect and went on to Charlton Youngs dojo and train with Big George, which led her to Jerry Stevens, who she don’t think a day goes by that she don’t think of him.
